Honolulu, HI – Did you ever wonder what you’d look like sitting in the cockpit of one of America’s famous warbirds? You’ll have the opportunity to sit in the seat, man the controls, and see the instruments of a WWII fighter or modern-day jet fighter at Open Cockpit Day, Saturday May 11, 9am to 5pm at Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor in Hangar 79.
Open Cockpit Day is free with paid Museum admission and free for Museum Members.

Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor is open 9am to 5pm daily except Christmas, New Year’s and Thanksgiving days, and is accessed by shuttles from the USS Arizona Memorial/Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Flight School For Girls

Thu May 30, 9am to 3:30pm, A three day adventure in the history and technology of flight, with an emphasis on Pacific Aviation and fun!
Sixth through eighth grade boys & girls soar at Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor’s Flight School! Flight School is a 3-day adventure in the history and technology of flight, with an emphasis on Pacific aviation – and fun! Middle school girls & boys explore the scientific principles of flight through hands-on activities, operate remote control aircraft, and meet women and women in aviation careers.
Registration for Flight School for Girls and Flight School for Boys is $150, and that ticket price includes all materials, lunch, snacks, Winging Ceremony and Flight School t-shirt.

Advanced Flight School is a 3-day residential aviation adventure for girls who earned their wings at a previous Museum Flight School for Girls. Girls experience a broad range of activities in aviation science and technology, and spend two nights aboard the historic Battleship Missouri Memorial. Registration is $260, which includes all program fees, meals, closing ceremony reception, and t-shirt.

Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter

Dedication of New Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter Sees Korean, American Dignitaries on Veterans Day
Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor dedicated its new Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter on Monday, November 12, 2012 on Veterans Day weekend. The 4:00 p.m. dedication ceremony took place at the Museum on Historic Ford Island.
Attendees at the ceremony included: PACAF Lt. Gen. Stanley Kresge, ROKAF VCoS Lt. Gen. Cha-Kyu Choi, Republic of Korea Consul General Suh Young Kil, Korean Chamber of Commerce President Christine Kim, Korean War veterans, business and civic leaders, and U.S. military members. Emcee was Museum Executive Director Ken DeHoff. Board Chair Clint Churchill also spoke.
The pilot name on the fuselage honors pilot General Kim Too Man. The Museum selected the markings for this aircraft to be that of the United States ally, the Republic of Korea Air Force.
The aircraft was donated by Thornton Aircraft Company. General Manager Robert McGregor represented Thornton Aircraft Company at the dedication. The plane joins the Museum’s growing collection of 35+ historic aircraft. Shipping was provided by Matson. Northrop Grumman sponsored the dedication ceremony.

6th Anniversary Dinner Gala

Annual Fundraiser, Silent auction and dinner.
Over 500 guests celebrated in style at Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor, Thursday, December 6, 2012 as military, civic, and community dignitaries convened for an evening of 1940s-style entertainment and Pacific Rim Cuisine prepared and catered by Chef Chai. The Museum’s 6th anniversary event was held this year in Hangar 37 on historic Ford Island.
Guests were greeted at the door of Hangar 37 with the Museum’s newest aircraft addition, the F-5A Freedom Fighter. Vintage military vehicles and re-enactors dressed in period costumes added to the ambiance. At dinner, they were entertained with a “1940s Radio Show,” and enjoyed fine wines and award-winning cuisine. A silent auction was held for trips and hotel stays, wines, jewelry and art.
Proceeds helped to fund the Museum’s Education and Restoration projects. Mahalo to our generous sponsors who supported this event.

Building Bridges Award
Recipient - Military Affairs Council (MAC), affiliate of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii
The Building Bridges award was established by Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor in 2011. The award recognizes and honors exceptional individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions towards bringing together the civilian and military communities in order to strengthen and promote mutual understanding of the respective communities’ interests, needs, and initiatives. This year’s recipient of the Building Bridges award is the Military Affairs Council (MAC). The MAC is affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and serves as the liaison for the State in matters relating to the military for the benefit of all of Hawaii’s businesses, institutions, and residents.
S.T.E.M. Education Award
Recipient - Marguerite Gambo Wood Foundation
The S.T.E.M. Education Award was also established by Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor in 2011. This award recognizes and honors exceptional individuals or organizations for their outstanding achievements in educating Hawaii’s youth in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This year’s S.T.E.M. Education award recipient is the Marguerite Gambo Wood Foundation.
Pacific Aviation Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Its mission is to develop and maintain an internationally recognized aviation museum on historic Ford Island that educates young and old alike, honors aviators and their support personnel who defended freedom in The Pacific Region, and to preserve Pacific aviation history..
