A “Super” Warbird Arrived December 9, 2013 at Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor

Honolulu, HI – Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor just beefed up its vintage aircraft collection to a total of 43 in its fleet. The new North American F-100F Super Sabre arrived December 9, 2013, shipped by Pasha Hawaii Transport Line. Termed a “Wild Weasel” mission aircraft by those who created it (North American), the F-100F (#58-1232) comes from the Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base located near Warner Robins, Georgia.

The Museum will receive a second “Wild Weasel” mission aircraft, the F-105G Thunderchief (nicknamed Thud), expected early in 2014. Wild Weasels played a significant role in the Vietnam War, designed specifically to counter advanced Surface to Air Missile systems utilized by the North Vietnamese Army.

“Weasels were trailblazers in speed and electronic combat,” said Museum Executive Director Ken DeHoff. “Many of the weapons and tactics employed by the USAF today have origins in the Vietnam era.”
