The Aviator’s Tour takes you behind the scenes to the heart of the hangars that housed the aircraft and the heroes of the War in the Pacific.
Veteran docents take you on a journey through Hangar 37 and Hangar 79, the Restoration Hangar. Hangar 79 is a battlefield survivor that still bears the scars of the December 7, 1941 attack and features a 1940s Carrier Aircraft Service Unit rebuilt to wartime authenticity. You’ll see the restoration of aircraft using WWII tools. And view the aircraft awaiting restoration to join the Museum’s exciting collection.
B17E Swamp Ghost Tour
The Swamp Ghost Tour gives you an up-close look at what is arguably the world’s only intact and unretired World War II B-17E bomber.
Knowledgeable docents give you an in-depth look at one of WWII’s most iconic bombers, exhibited in its original wreckage state. This tour takes you through all the details that made the B-17 Flying fortress such a mainstay in our country’s aerial arsenal. Included are the memories and recollections of the flight crew, as recounted by our docents, on the fateful mission that ended in a crash landing in a New Guinea swamp.
